The best burning software for CUE/BIN FILES is CDRwin from
    http://www.goldenhawk.com.

  3. If you are willing to pay, I think the best is CDRWin from Golden Hawk Tech (www.goldenhawk.com). There is a shareware one called Fireburner (www.fireburner.com) and a freeware one called CDRDao. I don't know the website for CDRDao, but you can probably search this forum and find a link for it.

  4. CDRwin and Fireburner has a lot more chances of buffer underrun than Nero. That's why i use nero to burn bin/cue.

  5. Burn under Linux, you NEVER get buffer underruns.

  6. Where did you hear that (in response to Xer0cool)?

If you had this problem yourself, I would suggest that there is a problem with your installation.

Firstly, CDR-Win and Fireburner are much LESS likely to cause a buffer underrun because they both use very little system resources when burning. Nero is BLOAT.

Secondly, you shouldn't use Nero to burn CUE/BIN images at all as it doesn't do it properly. I wish I kept the link to the original thread but this was worked out a few months ago. Nero causes an incorrect 150 sector offset on the tracks. This causes havoc to PBC (i.e., if you used VCDImager to create menus, they won't work if you burn the CUE/BIN with Nero).

    Regards.

...this is something I can definitely confirm, haven't had any coasters for ages... (providing your hardware is not crappy)... depending on the system configuration (e.g. dedicated image disk) you can safely play quake and recompile your kernel while burning w/ cdrdao...

  8. linux no buffer underuns...that's hogwash.
I've been burning under linux for 3+ years gcombust, cdrecord, xcdroast, etc. And yes I've had a buffer underun but it was my fault for attempting to run CPU and disk intensive applications. It is no different than windows. It's a little less chance perhaps of a buffer underrun if you bump up the priority but still it's no clear advantage.

also blindwrite.com is my fav cd-burning app for burning bin/cue files better than cdrwin and fireburner.

  9. There is a DEFINITE advantage under linux. The fact that you can bump up the priority helps prove it. I get a coaster at least 90% of the time with a direct reader to writer burn in Windows with my old burner with nothing else running except Systray and Explorer. Under linux, I have never gotten a coaster, and that is without bumping up the priority.

  10. Cdrwin is out of date, and nero fix their problem with Buffer underrun, i used to burn with cdrwin but it sometimes goes buffer underrun even with my 900 mhz 128 sdram, and no program open, nothing on system tray. and i tried nero then i never got buffer underrun.

and how caould their be a problem installing cdrwin, it doesn't install any other files besides the one that is on it's folder.

You could hardly generalise your one case to that Nero is better than CDR-Win.

Perhaps CDR-Win didn't have good drivers for your burner? There could be a lot of factors.

However, the fact remains that Nero 5.5 DOES NOT burn CUE/BIN type images properly. It is irrelevant whether you get a buffer underrun or not. It does not burn CUE/BIN images properly. VCD images in CUE/BIN format burnt with Nero do not work properly, especially if menus are involved.
