i bought my dad a golf dvd in england (pal region).... the dvd is for ntsc though. (the company have said they will give me a refund but i want to rip it b4 sending it back). And i want to be able to play it in a standalone not just a pc.

ive managed to rip it and burn a v good svcd which plays in pcs. ive burnt it in vcd but it doesnt work in my standalone when other vcds ive obtained do work.

ive narrowed it down to either,
1- pal/ntsc conflict (my hunch)
2-wrong type of cdmedia (unconvinced)
3-duff burning software (nero wont allow me to use it without purchase of codecs, adaptec cd creator4 only allows data transfer of mpg, and havent worked out use of vcdeasy yet.........)

in any case it might be useful to know in future how to convert region 1 to region 2 b4 ripping/burning.

dvd2avi automatically recognises source as ntsc and stores in that format when i go to tmpenc.

i use smartripper, dvd2avi, tmpegenc, and so far easycdcreator4 to burn, as im only playing in pc for the moment.
