  1. I have tried for months to create a svcd, but has not yet succeeded. I have used my edit program: the Pinnacle`s "Studio DV" to make a 30min movie. It is completed but I know not how to make a svcd out of it. I do not know which format to "make movie" in. I am using Nero to burn my cds.
My computer and DVD are both said to cope with svcds, so I believe the fault to be insufficient knowledge. Please Advise. Remember I will pay $15 to the first who can guide me from A-Z through to a final svcd.

    Best regards

Well, to start you need the movie to be in MPEG2 format with a resolution of 480x480 and a frame rate of 29.97 for NTSC (US, Canada & Japan) or 480x576 and a frame rate of 25 for PAL (pretty much everywhere else), use a video bitrate of up to 2520kbps and use 44100hz audio up to 384kbps (the total shouldn't be more than 2748kbps). Once you have your mpg file load it into VCDEasy and it's pretty simple from there.

I'm guessing Studio DV gives you a DV AVI file so to convert that to MPEG use TMPGEnc and the SVCD template in it's Project Wizard and all the settings above will be taken care of for you.

    Ok, now where's my $15?

  3. Maybe I'll split it with bondiablo.

In Studio set output to AVI resolution 480x480 Indeo codec, highest quality.

Download the TMPGenc MPEG encoder at www.tmpgenc.net free trial. Install. Open the program, close the wizard. Input file name is your AVI from above. Press load key and select the SVCD template (PAL or NTSC depends where you live - if US select NTSC, europe PAL). Press start button and encode.

2 ways to make vcd from your MPEG:
    1) Buy copy of Nero Burning ROM at store or www.nero.com and install. Select SVCD from choices and drag your file to the project side. Insert CD-R into burner. Click the burn button.
    2) Download vcdeasy from tools section here. Install. If you get an error about ASPI layer download & install forceASPI from tools section. Now follow instructions - set to SVCD, again PAL or NTSC, select your MPEG as the only thing and create bin/cue file for SVCD then use that fileset to burn.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
