  1. I have troubles reading my DVD-R on my standanlone DVD player after burning them with the SONY DRU-500A. All discs play fine on my computer but will not playback on the standalone player. In some cases they work, maybe 1 out of 10.
I use That's Write DVD-R and a SONY DVP-NS900 player. Anybody has the same expericience with the Sony drive or is it just the media?

  2. It could be the media you are using... I have the Sony DRU500A and all my burned DVDs play perfectly on my Sony DVP-NS715P standalone... Have you upgraded your firmware to 1.0f? I had some compatability issues with certain DVD media before I upgraded. Also, what are you using to burn with? Many people have reported problems when burning with Nero.

I've used the following media with success... Maxell +/-R, Ritek -R, Optodisk -R/-RW, Sony +RW... you may want to consider going to Supermediastore.com and purchasing their DVD test pack to see which media works for you.. that's what I did. Its around $20 and you get 12 discs from various manufacturers....

    Hope this helps...

  3. My DRU500a has firmware 1.0f and I have tried burning with:
    Veritas RecordNow
    Veritas RecordNow DX
    Veritas RecordNow MAX
    Nero 5.5.9.17 / 5.5.10.0
    DVD Decrypter 3.1.4.0
    WinOnCD 6 Power Edition

I got the same result from all the programs. Burning DVD+R/RW seems to work all the time.

Ordering the test pack from Supermediastore.com is not going to work, they don't deliver outside the US
