When I encode NTSC 23.976 from wither DVD or AVI (Divx), I usually like to keep it as close to the source as possible. When

Just got another DVD player and it plays SVCD great, except if they are 23.976, which I guess is not complient SVCD. When I encode at 30 they are perfect.

I can do my encoding in either TMPG, LSX or CCE.

    I'd like to know:
What have you experienced is the best way to alter the frame rate from NTSC 24 to 30 ?

    Thanks,

    Jon

24 fps, or actually 23.976 is the "NTSC film" rate for SVCDs.

I'd suggest in your encoding program, turning off Inverse Telecine. Most encoding programs have this feature (including TMPGenc and CCE) and the Inverse Telecine is what is converting the 29.97fps to 23.976fps. In TMPGenc this option is on the Advanced, setting page, I'm not sure where it is in other encoders. After you turn this off then you will be encoding to 29.97fps again.

I would say using 3:2 Pulldown as it brings the 23.976fps (Or 24fps) up to 29.97fps so it can be compatible with SVCD's standards and playable on your DVD Player.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P
