  1. My system specs are right on my profile so I'll skip that.....

As the topic says I'm using an ATI TV Wonder PCI card on WinXP SP1. The problem is that no matter what program I try the video goes out of synch with the audio after about 20 minutes of capturing. The program I like the most for capturing so far is Power VCR II but even that has this frame out of synch error. What could be the cause of this? Any system settings that should be on/off that would benefit me? What drivers are the best for my card with XP (ATI as usual sucks when it comes to driver support)?

    Any help is most appriciated.

  2. I had similar problems with my ATI TV Wonder under XP Pro, so I downgraded to Win2K/Sp3 and everything is A-OK.

  3. I also have powervcrII, and ATI TV wonder card(PCI) and an XP machine. Mine isn't as fast as your, however, I have never had a problem with syncing when using powervcrII. When you do your caps, is it the ONLY thing running or are you surfing or doing other stuff on it. that may cause sync issues.

On your (i believe) 80 gig hard drive, I am assuming it is set up for ultra DMA. Are you capping to a separate drive or to your "main" hard drive. That may have an impact. There was a guide a little while back that talked about setting up your computer for capturing. Do a search and see if you can find it. Also, when you say every, you mean IUVCR, virtual dub, virtual vcr, etc. and none of the codecs and whatnot will get you to a non sync environment.

  4. hi there i use pci tv wonder ve with xp pro sp1 and had sync probsat first so i installed btwincap drivers and went from ati mmc to virtualdub mod and *boing* i can capture hours on end and no sync prob.. do not check the *lock audio to video box . this will cause synd probs if frames are dropped. vdub and avi_io are the only progs that will not give me sync issues everything else i have tried does. latest build of vdubmod is 1.4.13. once you learn it you will never use anything else. the best divx xvid encoder.. best avi capture program IMO. you can edit and filter your video. you can use the built in audio interleaving options to correct sync issues.

    adio skew correction
    delay audio tracks by xxxxms
use + values if audio plays early
use - values if audio plays late

^^^ can save tons of headaches.

  5. Thanks everyone for all your replies so far...

hoola.... what do you recommend for mpeg-2 capturing in use with my card as far as codecs that work well with virtualdub?

  6. hoola_loop, I'm glad you had success with installing the btwincap drivers. I've tried three times in the past and each time they rendered my computer useless (would always BSOD when loading Windows).

Can I ask did you do anything special to get them installed ?

    Cheers
