  1. I'm a newbie ready to send some edited home videos on vcd to family in India. I know the software I am using(Pinnacle AV Studio 8) only outputs to NTSC.

My folks have a PC(I'm not sure which one) that's pretty recent(a year old) so VCD's should be ok, right? Only question is: India uses the PAL system with VCR's. Will this be a problem for them to playback on their computer?

    Thanks

  2. Don't worry; a VCD (PAL or NTSC) will play perfectly fine on your folks computer. Also, most standalone VCD players and some DVD players will play both formats on either PAL or NTSC only TV.

Since you are from india, can you link me a online DVD/VCD shop from india? I would love to see what they have there (India is a great market to find old video clips, expecially from the 80s)

  4. SatStorm,

You can buy from this site:

    http://planetm.indiatimes.com/video/PlanetMVideoHome.jsp

For your info, the current exchange rate is:

1 US Dollar = INR (Indian Rupees) 49 (approx)
    1 British Pound-Sterling = INR (Indian Rupees) 70 (approx)

  6. SatStorm,

I found that the site I mentioned does not ship outside India (at least the site does not say anything regarding international shipping). However, you may send them a query.

Yeah, I also notice that they don't have things that I don't have.
You see, I receive through satellite MTV India and Channel V india, and I know that there they don't have VH1 and also they don't air only British/American retro hits. The disco/euro scene is still big there (also big in japan, thanks to Super Eurobeat music scene). So, those channels are excellent source for really difficult to find VideoClips from 80s and early 90s (from 90s I have many on tape at least, from 80s not so many, MTV Europe started the summer of 87 and I first receive it mid '89, it was already start "americanised..."
I thought that "since they air videoclips from that music area, they have to have VHS at least with music videos from that area". Well, it turned out that I am wrong. They don't have nothing as I see so far.
They have interest childern VCDs thourgh...
    Thanks again for the link!
