  1. I am wondering if it is better or more compliant to burn at faster speeds or slower speeds with DVD's. With CD's it was better to burn at slower speeds, but I read somewhere that a guy had problems with playback on DVD's he burned at 1x. If anyone has tried speeds at 1x, 2x, 2.4x, or 4x please let me know your experiences. Thanks a lot.

  2. In my case speed does matter I burn everything at 1x. When I burn at 2x they seem to burn ok but when I view them they will have pauses in them. Also stay away from cheap media even at 1x they still are not perfect. Hope this helps.

I burn at 2x with my Sony dru500a.I have nrver seen any pauses. As for not using "cheap"media,it's not price that counts! I use Accu R- and they are 79 cents each.I have not had a coaster out of 60+ burns.I have used Maxell at 3 times the price, and about a 15% coaster rate! Also,I burn my Accu media at 2x even though they were rated 1x.

  6. Here's another vote for the Accu DVD-R.

I was half way through my spindle of 50. Using DVDXCOPY (1.3) with my Sony DRU500a and now RecordNow MAx for PS2 backups, not a single problem, except fpr episodic DVDs like the Sopranos, so I ordred another spindle of 50, this time with the dual sided cases, which arrive Xmas eve. I'm a very happy camper !!! I too burn at 2x.
