I have seen many guides on this forum, and all seem pretty good. However, since I have not done any DVD's yet (I will start tomorrow) I do not know "officially" which one is best.
Time at the computer is important (lack of time, actually) I want as little time at the computer as possible, since I would like to backup over 200 titles.
I want movie only, with chapters, english subs, and one AC3 track preserved. NO menus. Encoding time is not important since I do not need to be at the computer to do this.
I believe I have found the shortest guides for DVD-5 to DVDR. It's just the other two possibilites that I would like assistance with. DVD-9 to DVDR when movie is small enough with everything stripped, menu's, extras. etc. and DVD9 to DVDR when movie is still too big. By the way, if everything is stripped and we find out that it is still too big, do we have to start back at the beginning?
I do not need a new guide written, just a finger (not thee finger) in the right direction by someone who has experience with multiple guides.
Thanks for any input.
Also, once the movie is burned correctly to a DVDR, can a second DVDR be made by simply burning on the fly? From DVD-ROM to DVD-Burner.

I have most of the software for the other guides. I just would like to know which guide so if I have to purchase anything, I will not be wasting my time. -
I would personally recommend the DVD2DVDR guide for Dummies on this site when you have stripped out all the garbage and your movie is still too big to fit on a DVD5. I have found this to be the most reliable method and I have backed up over 60 discs so far...
The only thing the guide lacks is what settings to use to achieve high quality encodes in TMPGEnc. Here is a site you can use to fill in the blanks for TMPGEnc...

Also, it is recommended that you strip out all the unwanted stuff from a movie before you encode... so you do not have to start all over....
