  1. I downloaded some movies, which have this filename format:

    '[tmd] "movie name" (CD1of2)'

There's no file extension or anything. All it says is type of file: Video Clip. When I play the files in Windows Media Player I get no audio or video. Is this a hoax movie to get suckers to download? Or do I have to convert something first or perhaps download new codecs? Or do I have to burn the file onto a cd first?? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

P.S. Is there a program that would let me identify files such as this more easily?

  2. you could try and add the .avi or .mpg file extension to the file.

as for programs that identify: try gspot for avi's

    and

    MPEG Properties for mpg's

both you can get here in the Tools section.
