  1. Hi all, i'm lookin into building my own Tivo-Like PVR. The problem i'm having is the most important part, the video card with tv-out. The only cards i've ever used with tv-out were NVidia, and both of them, one asus, and one leadtek, would put the image on the TV in a square shape that didn't fill up the whole screen and i'd get a nice black outline around the image. Please, if anyone else has had these problems, or knows of a video card that deffinatly works well, let me know. Thanks alot...

I don't know about the cards but I do know there are VGA to NTSC converters for this purpose. I've seen them in TigerDirect's fishwrap they send me every two weeks or so. I've heard you can take a beating on quality when you go from VGA to NTSC though.

  3. Thanks, but I was wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a specific make/brand of video card that did this for you, since most good 3d graphics cards come with them anyway, no point in buying a seperate device to do what the $300 is supposed to do.

  4. TVTool (NVidia) & TVCC (Asus cards) are supposed to get rid of the black border:

  5. Thanks, i hope it works, haven't tried it yet, but looks like it addresses the issue i'm having, and it seems like its a problem for all nvidia based cards. Does anyone know if the ATI AIW's have decent quality tv-out?
