Do anyone know if I have to encode a Xvid movie in a different way then encoding a AVI using TMPGEnc or is it the same way?

It seems to depend on which version of the Xvid codec was used to create the avi and which version you have installed. Generally the safest way usually reccomended (and one I have used successfully a couple of times) is frameserving from virtualdub to Tmpgenc. There is a guide on this in the convert section.
