Until recently my Pioneer 340 played +R Media burned on the Phillips, For some reason it now wont play new burned DVD +R but willm play my older burned +R now after backtracking over what changes I have made to my system im thinking that a firmware update to the Phillips to make it region free is the culprit does this sound possible, can I downgrade firmware if this is the case?

My 228rw is on version 1.13 and have been hesitant to upgrade to 1.36. Did you upgrade to 1.36?

Yes I did and this seems to be the problem what now happens is it will not close the +R disk so not able to play in set top.
I did fix this problem though........ It went back to the store and I got a new one as Phillips were useless in helping out -
When I changed unit I went for a Pioneer did not like Phillips aftersales help so they lost my custom
