Sorry if posting in wrong forum but all seem to defined this query as inappropriate.

I have DVD-R's I've burned using a DMR-HS2 and would like now to rip them. When I attempt to accomplish this using SmartRipper it advised that "Some files are still locked". If I choose the ignore option and proceede to attempting the rip (even trying just the first chapter) it stalls and notifies after some time that there are broken blocks.

Also, I can open the VOB's files directly with DVD2AVI but it also seems to stall during the conversion process. I'm just wondering does anyone know if there is a work-around for this or a more appropriate software, maybe even changes in settings that could be implimented during either initial DVD-R burning or the ripping process? How about inferrior PC DVD-ROM drive or DVD-R media?

    Pioneer DMR-HS2
    TDK DVD-R
    Delta DVD-ROM (ugh)
    SmartRipper
    DVD2AVI

Appreciate any opinions or real life experiences!

    Regards,

Play the disc with your DVD player software for a minute or two, the rip.

Thanks for the feedback leebo! Did just that and all works fine!

Now I have to figure out why the ripped audio streams from the DVD-R's is not directly compatible with VDub. Unlike retail DVD's, the audio output from these DVD-R's using SmartRipper->DVD2AVI->VFAPI get lost somewhere. I've not spent any time investigating this one yet.

    Regards again for the advice!
