  1. This prob isn't gonna make sense but here goes.......
I'm using virtualdub to make a separate sound file, which worked fine. The problem I am getting is TMPGEnc won't convert my avi if there is any audio in it. ("err: cannot open file") I tried to make a video only file using virtualdub but it only get about halfway through and gives me an error message. I forgot the exact wording but its something about my output *.avi being incorrect. I've looked everywhere for some output settings but no luck

I'm prob doing this the hard way so if anyone knows a better way PLZ help!

I've read just about every tutorial and searched for hours before I posted this so plz don't flame

I take you did this with video set to direct stream copy in virtualdub? If so, before doing this, try doing video->scan stream for errors. It might help.
