I do not know what to do...
I am using a WinFast A250 Ultra TD - MyVIVO Edition Video Card (nVidia Ti 4600, 128 MB S-Video And Composite In And Out).
I have a Dish Player where I have recorded a whole bunch of TV shows that I like that I want to transfer to my computer with the absolute best image quality... but I don't want them to be 1 GB files either, hehe!
Anyways... I am a newbie, but here is what I have done so far...
I am not having any trouble with getting the video and sound in... I am using the latest version of VirtualDub and I am encoding with Divx 5.02.
Here is a link to a test file I did. To me, it just doesn't look fantastic... I think I am losing frames or something... according to the settings, I am getting 15 frames per second... and if I modify it, I lose frames or it gets choppy? Can someone download the test file (about 600 KB), take a look, and let me know what I can do to improve the quality?

UPDATE!!! HERE IS MY LATEST TEST... AND I CAN DEFINITELY SEE SOME KIND OF FRAME DROPPAGE OR SOMETHING WEIRD... PLEASE HELP!!!
http://www.cdsend.com/testing05.avi (ABOUT 3 MB)
Should I lock the video stream to audio? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? How can I make it look less choppy? Or... is it fine and am I just going crazy? At this rate... I can get a 30 minute show (20 - 24 minutes without comercials... to around 100 MB).
I am posting some of my VirtualDub settings at the bottom...
Thanks!
Jay

The problem is most likely that you are tryign to capture the audio to MP3. Divx compression already eats cpu cycles, Unless you have a very, very fast PC, Compressing to divx and mp3 in realtime doesn't work to well. As a test, try a different audio format.

Hehe... I have a Athlon XP 2200 system with 512 MB PC2700 SDRAM... I just tried using Microsoft's Mpeg4 Codec Version 2... is this correct? Anyways... it works quite well... any thoughts?
Also, what is the common codec for audio?
