Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this error message? I'm using the bundled software that came with my drive, I have the 1.0 firmware update and I have used Sony, Verbatim, and Memorex DVD-Rs with no success. I've searched Google, Sony, and MYDVDs support sites and have found nothing!

I too am having the same problem you speak of...funny thing is it is after I have already burned some DVD's. I haven't changed anything on my system so it seems really odd to me. I am starting to wonder if the drive has gone bad?

I have problems trying to install my DVD. It keeps saying invalid serial number. I don't think you need to imput and serial number however the error keep showing up.

Don't know if this will help anyone but I was able to fix my problem by installing XP on a 15 gig spare hd I had around and installing only what I need to burn a DVD on it. I then installed "Deep Freeze" to lock my settings down so they will never change. I had to redo my project...but it worked. Hope that helps someone.

You just kind of confirmed what was my suspision (still not 100% confirmed). When everybody was having problems with Sony drive I didn't. When I followed the posts with "errors during firmware upgrade" everybody was sugesting... "do you have all the latest drivers?". Well, only drivers that I have on my system are from Microsoft (fresh WinXPHome install and windowsupdate.microsoft.com ). Even last known issue that I was reading solved by uninstalling some Via driver. Maybe this is solution to all "issues"
