TMPEG : ASF/WMV - MPG

I've read all previous topics about that, but none work for me :
I've renamed the wmv to asf, avi, etc...
when I try to open in tmpegenc, I have the following message : The file "....\SPEAK.ASF" cannot be opened or is unsupported.
I can play the file in media player (7.01.00.3055), and under Properties, I've audio and video codec : unknown.

Can anyone help me please ?

are you try to convert asf/wmv to avi/mpg?
if you are a have some steps.
