Okay I'm trying to remove some semi-transparent channel logos from some of my files. I was pointed to DeLogo, and even found a tutorial about it. However I'm not able to get results anything like the tutorial. Usually I have a big smudge where the logo was. I thinkm i'm just making the analyze mask the wrong way. Is there anyone here who has successfully removed channel logos who could point me in the right direction?

  2. I've tried a similar thing once: the logoaway filter for Virtual Dub. I got the same result as you: a blur where the logo used to be. I've read a comment on this subject from someone who knows a lot more about it then I do. According to him it is virtually impossible to restore the original picture because underneath the logo there no longer is any information left. What these filters do is look at the nearest pixels around the logo and then they make an estimate of what COULD be underneath the logo. The result: a blurry spot throughout your movie that is even more annoying than the logo.
If anyone claims the opposite and can give an explanation on how to succesfully remove a logo: PLEASE DO! I would just love to be wrong in this case!

I can understand your viewpoint. But when the logo is semi-transparent...the pixels are there...though they've got a slightly different color value than the surrounding ones. These semi-transparent logos have been removed successfully by other people, the ones i've seen don't even have much of a visible blur. (heck even de-logo's own tutorial does a better job of it than I can)

Any comments from people who've done this successfully?

  4. I'm no expert, but eventhough your logo is semi-transparant, I think the pixels now are part of the logo, thus the part that needs to be removed.
But then again, who am I?
Maybe it is possible and I've never checked any other possibilities on removing logos besides the logoaway filter. Could you give me the url where I can find this delogo tutorial? I'd like to see the results they achieve.
    Thanx
