  1. I went over to SRS Labs website to read about it's Circle Surround II audio format, and found out that it's embeded in a stereo audio file. When played on a CSII compatable reciever, it comes out as 6.1 surround sound, so it would be nice to do VCDs, and DVDs in that format, without having to worry about AC-3 compability issues in authoring programs.

But what I would really like to know, do they really have a software encoder?
(Someguy at a 3D animation forum suggested that I get it to do my animations in surround sound)

    Thanks in advance

there is a plugin for windows media encoder comming http://www.srslabs.com/windows_media.asp#Encoder

but you would be far better off to do a proper surround mixing job and encode to ac3 or DTS instead of faked surround ...

the srs effect you hear now is "made" in the reciever or TV .. it is a algorithm that runs on the same decoding chip used for dolby and dts (cirrus logic and sharc chip sets found in these devices) , its not on the yamaha chip set used in some other products for decoding.

  3. Thanks BJ_M!

I would buy ACID Pro 4, which has 5.1 mixing capabilities, but it costs +$500, and this is my first major animation project (one man crew). Maybe if I do a nice job I'll consider the upgrade from my ACID Music! Thanks!
