  1. Someone at Maxell had claimed that 4X DVD-R media wold not work
on many (or most; I can't remeber) home DVD players manufactured before this fall (autumn).

Has anyone tried 4X DVD-R media on a home DVD player that was purchased before this fall?

I am consdering buying some 4X DVD-R media when my 1X and 2X supplies run out.
However, I will only do so if the discs will play on my two existing home DVD players, which are both working fine...

    Thanks!

Is the 7400 the newest of your players?
Can you specify how old each of these DVD players is?

pioneer 7400 is the pioneer industrial player and i have used 100's and 100's of them and they are ussually rotated in and out of inventory ..

if you are looking for one heavy duty dvd player that plays any disk - this is it (no svcd though at all) .. though pretty expensive ($1000 US) ..

the other players are used for testing and are anywhere from 1 year to 4 months old ..

  6. 4x should take 15 mins or so. On my 104 1x never takes more than 60 mins.

get out out of town .. even at 2x speed a full 4.3 gig takes longer than 15 minutes...

plus "enables 2x burns...."? it had 2x speed burns when it first came out ..

  10. 2x takes just under 30 minutes with an average 4gb burn on a 104.

There is firmware that enables 2x on everything, but your gonna have problems trying that with crappy media. The Ritek gold tops are ok though if you want cheap stuff for 2x.
