  1. I use Studio 7 with the latest patch which apparently has the same engine for making mpg2 files as Studio 8. My process is to capture in full quality AVI, edit, and then make mpg2 for DVD. When using MovieFactory or SpruceUp for authoring, the mpg2 files start loading. Then 10 or 20% into the loading process, the HD activity light starts showing a lot more activity for a minute or two. Then the loading process stops without successfully loading the file. There would be no error messages. I wonder if anybody else has had the same problem and if so, what is the fix. Thanks in advance.

  2. I use Studio 7 too. I didn't have chance to test it with my new Sony burner, but I will this weekend. I will post my results here too.

Sorry that I couldn't help you, yet.

  3. Okay I'm just new to SpruceUp but I encountered the same problem as you have, i'm using Studio 8 seems to be that Pinnacle produces an Mpeg2 file that is not fully compatible with SpruceUp what I did is demux the file in TmpGenc and then I have to mux it again as the sound won't seem to go in. After that reread the file in SpruceUp and it should go in. Hope that helps

  4. thinker, May I ask you ??? Why do you use SpruceUp for authoring when Studio 8 can do that and Menu looks realy nice there. I was just playng around new Studio 8 with small (10min) project and it worked for me great.

This is also result of my test with Studio 7.... Upgrade to Studio 8

  5. I don't know, but I try the more complicated menus where the buttons are not arranged in horizontal or vertical. When you use the DVD arrow buttons it doesn't move to the correct spot Technical support is not very helpful either. Anyway I also feel that the encoding process of Pinnacle is not as good as TmpGenc, so I'm going to try out tonight and compare the quality. Also it would be a problem to use Pinnacle when you are backing up DVD's. Anyway hope for success in your project.

I thought that you are using Studio 8 to create Mpeg2.

And I thought that problem was that Mpeg2 produced by Studio 8 is not recognized by SpruceUp.

As far as menu in Studio 8 ? You can rearange buttons and they you can use moving buttons(video) and (I am not suer about this) even your backround can be movie. I think that their menu is pretty powerfull. I am not sure if menu in SpruceUp is better. Only problem that I am expecting with Studio8 is with large project (was reading on forum)... We will see.

  7. well the Mpeg2 created by Studio 8 is not considered as DVD compliant by SpruceUp (don't ask me why , I don't know either). thats why it won't accept it. I read the solution to this one in the forums of SpruceUp.

Had the same problem with Pinnacle when creating an MPeg2 for SVCD. It will not run properly with my Pioneer DV-C503 (Picture is split and duplicated vertically ). However when I reencode the AVI using TmpGenc it works perfectly.

I really like the features of Pinnacle, in fact its the best so far considering the price. But when I created custom menus with weird arrangement of buttons it goes haywire. I don't know yet with spruce, it might give me the same problem.

Try pinnacle 8 out, but I keep on hanging when I use Hollywood FX transitions. I feel 7 is more stable.
