I'm using the new Canopus 1394 PCI capture card. I need software that will allow me to schedule recordings to capture tv.
I have a reg'd version of Power VCR 3. While previewing tv on the computer it runs file "IF" the Power VCR display window is full screen. Anytime you resize the display screen smaller than full it chugs quite bad.
I searched Cyberlink's (ppl who make power vcr) site for something related to this, the only thing I found pertained to system requirments.
Here is my system:
AMD ATHLON 900MHZ
128mb ram
20gb maxtor hard drive
Creative Labs Banshee (video card)
Onboard audio
As you can tell the only downfall to the system is the video card, however Cyberlink didn't mention a requirement for one. But it's the only thing I can think of that'll cause this problem.
Vegas Video displays / records just fine (however there is no scheduler / that I found).
Most other capture progs I use either don't recognize the 1394 or give me some misc error (like virtual dub & freevcr).
Suggestions welcome, thanks!

I use iuVCR for timed recordings with my ADVC-100. It doesn't record directly to mpeg though, only to DV in my case. You can capture to almost any installed codec but capturing to DV with the ADVC doesn't recompress it. Captures to type-1 files which I convert with mainconcept/tmpg or whatever. Works great, runs like a service on win2k...

Ditto on IuVCR, works great with the ADVC100 to DV files. I use Vegas Video to edit etc and also use Mainconcept/TMPG to encode to Mpeg.

Thanks for the software tip. I'll give iuVCR a try tonight and see how it fares.

Well I have an offical response from Cyberlink as to why PowerVCR sucks so bad.
Below is a quote I received from one of their tech support people.
"Please kindly note that currently PowerVCR does not support the capture card model you're using for video capture with full compatibility. We're sorry that so far we do not have a updated patch file to support its compatibility with this hardware. For more details about supported hardwares, kindly please refer to the link below:
http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/products/powervcr3/hardware_compatability.jsp
Thanks."
So hopefully they'll at least come out with a patch for it. God only knows though.
