  1. I noticed that on my dead nVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 video card for the TV out has a unusual connection. Unusual to me that is. It is a seven pin connection. Any has information to share? Does the seven pin S video cable have more grounding than a four pin S video cable? A schematic for the seven pin S video cable would be nice.

It will use a standard S-Video cable for S-video, and with the aid of an adaptor (usually supplied with the card), the middle three are for composite video (I think thats how it goes, but I have been known to be wrong before).

That's the VIC-20 alright.. ..one of MY first computers, the VIC-20, he, he...
I remember staying up late fri/sat nights, drinking lots of coffee and
plugging in code from PC Magizine, etc... ...
    040 002 023 220 102 120 117 122..
    070 001 014 114 114 230 114 122..
    080 102 023 220 102 120 127 122..
    090 202 023 220 102 240 217 122..

    VIC-20, C-16, C-64. . .

As to the nVidia card, just so happens that I picked one up today to
replace my old 2 year old ATI Rage 128 PCI card. And, I noticed the
same thing. Turns out that it's an S-Video OUT in your's and my case.
The ADVC-100 DV device has this same plug, but it's an IN, but I don't
know why, when this unit has an IN on front and back aready.

But, on the nVidia card, it's the OUT for a Composite or RCA connection
to your TV set (yellow circled plug) If you have an S-Video TV equip, then
you can just use the 7pin S-video OUT to your TV's S-Video IN.

I've ben meaning to test this OUT connection on the nVidia card to see
if the TV out quality is better than what I have in my ATIRageFuryPro
card's TV-OUT, or maybe they are just the same output quality, no
matter what. But, I'll be testing it anyways.

Some cards i.e. mpeg decoders and some TV cards have a non standard 7pin mini jack.

By non standard I mean you cannot get the plug anywhere to make up the lead or connector as it is custom.

Sometime you'll have s-vhs and composite or composite and audio and you should have been supplied with a lead.

Some of the budget computer suppliers neglect to include leads for these connects are hoard them for themselves.

You know these manufactures when you order a replacement zip disk your supprise to get a zip tools disk with no box as they have removed them from the zip drives they sell

  7. I can still use my VIC-20!!!
Anyway the 7 pin S-video plug works well with a 4 pin S-video pin. I just put the for pin cable into the plug. I do have another question, or statement. For my old Apple LC or LLG the mouse cable has the same connection as a S-video plug. Even fits in one. strange isn't it?

  9. Does anyone have a schematic for the seven pin S-video cable that would be willing to share? If not any ideas on where I can find the schematic?

this is one pinout - there are more ... its not standardized between companies (graphic board companies that is)..

btw - a 7 pin s-video connector is a standard connector for semipro equipment .. and is easly found and purchased -- but of course ati and nvidia dont use that pin out ...
