I captured a TV program with my capture card using the DVD settings. Then I used Movie Factory to create the DVD. But, when I put the DVD in my DVD player, I have video but no sound. I used the same clip with Sonic My DVD and it has sound. I also used Video Studio 6 to create the DVD and it also has no sound. The funny thing is when you are playing back the clip within Movie Factory or Video Studio the clip has audio. But, the sound is lost when it is burned onto a DVD-RW. Does anyone have a clue why Movie Factory and Video Studio create DVD’s with no sound. Please let me know. Thanks.

I am beginning to think the original file was captured in mono, and the Ulead products were looking on the wrong channel for audio. Could you load the captured file into Gold Wave and see if Gold Wave can bring up audio on both channels?
    Hello.

Tommyknocker, I will see if Gold Wave has a trial version to test this out. But, why would the file work when it is played on the computer with PowerDVD?

I loaded the files in Gold Wave and it shows it as being in Stereo.
Any other ideas of why this is happening? In case this might help, I have a Creative Labs Audigy sound card.

When you said the DVD will not play sound in your DVD player, will any other DVDs play sound in it?

    Tommyknocker,

Yes, I am able to play other DVD's on my DVD player. I even play DVD-r's of back-up movies using DVD2ONE onto it. I also can play DVD-R/RW created with Sonic MY DVD and SCVD's. It is just having problems with this application and I do not know why. I believe all the setting within Movie Factory and Video Sudio are correct. Both of these software packages are made by ULead and I have the same problem with both.
TommyKnocker, do you own these software packages? What do you use to capture and author your DVD'S?

Well, I feel very stupid. It was my DVD players audio settings that were the problem. My JVC player has three audio settings: PCM only, Dolby Digital/PCM and Stream/PCM. I had it on Stream/PCM. I switched it to Dolby Digital/Stream and it worked. One positive thing is that I learned from my mistake.
