Hi! I am trying to back up my copy of The Rainmaker and am having problems.
I used this guide as I usually do:
http://www.digital-forums.com/dvd2dvdr/
I used the Force Film setting on DVD2AVI, and noticed something weird:
I noticed that when I pressed F5, the Frame Type would rapidly switch from Progressive to Interlaced throughout the process, the % Film never went above 80 and would go all the way down to 5% or 8%, and the Info box would say "V.E.!" This never happened before.
I followed the rest of the steps correctly, and the DVD Title Set plays perfectly on the computer. However, on my standalone players, it stutters, and won't play the video for more than a second or two, if ever.
What did I do wrong? I have a feeling that I need to use different settings when encoding.
Is there a different way of doing things so I can backup this DVD? Ideally, I would like to keep the English 5.1 track, and if possible (not necessary) English Subtitles.
Even going back through DVD2AVI, and leaving off the Forced Film setting, gives me the same results (frame type rapidly switching, film % rate fluctuation, and the V.E.! info).
Could the video be interlaced? It is 4:3 Letterbox, so it might be. Should I leave off the "Force Film" setting, and set TMPGEnc to output the movie 29.97 fps interlaced?
I have no idea what to do. I feel like a newbie!![]()
Thanks in advance!
