  1. I have been playing with VideoStudio 6.0, which I bought last week. I created my first video project and ran into some problems. First, I used VS 6.0's mpeg capture, but the picture was very grainy. I'm not sure if this is because of my capture card or the plugin, but it looks horrible.

In my past video projects I have been capturing raw AVI files using another utility (Sonic Foundry Capture program) and importing them into VS 6.0. Using VS 6.0, I render the entire edited/finished project in AVI (which creates a large file). I then have been using TMPGEnc to convert the AVI file into a VCD ready MPEG file. This is where I get the best results. I have been deleting the AVI file after this process is completed because of how large it is.

    My questions are as follows:

    1) What is the best way to convert the mpeg file back to the original AVI file?

    2) I would like to someday use these same mpeg files an convert to SVCD or DVD (when I get a DVD writer). What is the best way to do this?

I have read a lot of posts on using TMPGEnc to make this conversion, but I am wondering what the best way is to convert from MPEG to AVI. Any help would be appreciated.

    And..
You are correct in suggesting TMPGE to convert to SVCD or DVD....terrific software.
