  1. I just downloaded the new firmware and it will not launch. I get 'the application failed to start because Sendcom.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.' Obviously I don't have the .dll file and not even sure what this is. I am running WinXP SP1, but also tried it on WinXP without SP1. Drive not running in DMA mode (it's on it's own IDE channel as well) and no packet writing software is installed (only Nero and RecordNow). Anybody have the same problem?

  2. Sendcom.dll is Sony's own "Send Command" .dll

It can be found in the firmware v1.0d updater (the zip file), alternatively it can be downloaded from Sony's website

    Good luck,

  3. Thanks Byte! That worked. Guess it would have been nice for Sony to package the .dll in this firmware file as well (or maybe copy it on the last update to the system directory). But it updated just fine and I'm in the process of testing it out.

    Thanks again.

  4. You're welcome Alshadin!

In the mean time Sony corrected the problem and posted a .zip file with the sendcom files included.

    Update went nicely

I"m so glad they fixed this bug. Everytime I would go to format a DVD+RW, it returned a SCSI/IDE command error right at the end of the the format.

I tried to format with 1.0e and it worked.

    Good job sony.

Still could use some improvements on the +-RW read speeds.

I would like to see someone make this drive RPC-1

  6. Note that 1.0f (as opposed to 1.0e) is now available
at the Sony US site. http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/downloads/Firmware1f/500a10f.zip
