  1. Hello guys (and girls too of course), this is my question for which I would like a plain-English answer, step-by-step, (I know there is some information on this matter but they are not enough clear to me...yet).

I am using DVD Decrypted to select and decrypt a DV-9 DVD. As result, I am getting 3-4 VOB files and relative ifo file. The product is that my required VOB files are now less than 4.7 GB.

So my question is: How can I make a working DVD-R using these files without having to use TMPGEnc? Since the files size is just fine, then I no longer need to use TMPGEnc to resize them.

FYI my regular procedure to make DVD-R is a follow:

    1) DVD Decrypter (File mode - to select only the needed files, end.... )
    2) ChapterXtractor (to extract chapters)
    3) DVD2AVI (To extract audio file)
    4) TMPGEnc (To resize my files over 4.7 GB)
    5) DVDMaestro (To recompile video, sound and chapters)
    6) Gear Pro DVD (To burn the DVD media)

So now you have an idea of what experience I have, and tools I use (I know them just enough to make a working DVD-R). So how can I achieve my goal? Please be specific; vague answers are not helping much. Thank you so MUCH for your time.

  2. Option 2:/ Copy a DVD that is Dual layer but the actual movie is small enough to fit directly into a 4.3GB DVD-R.

This option will cause the main movie to once you put your DVDr into the player. Ie you have to lose the menu/extras, but it will allow your movie to fit on your 4.3GB DVD-R with identical quality to the original. It also keeps your 5.1 Sound, and some selected subtitle streams of your choice. You need at least 9-15 Gig of space on your hard drive.

Software required: DVD Decryptor (from www.doom9.net)
    DVDMaestro (Spruce Technologies – Gone)
Nero 5.5.9.0 or higher (Working Demos available)

    a) Load DVD Decryptor, it will select your main movie automatically in IFO mode. Click on the "Stream Processing" tab and then place a tick in the "Enable stream processing" box. This box will then allow you to select from the list of streams above it. Select "DEMUX" and then select at least 3 things from the list...your Video File (at the top)...your AC3 file (preferably the 6ch one to keep surround sound) and your Subtitle stream. CHECK DEMUX FOR EACH STREAM SEPERATELY!
    b) Extract to your hard drive. This will create an m2v file for your video, an AC3 file for your audio, and a small .vob ad .ifo file that will have your subtitle stream in it only. This will also create chapter list files for you for Maestro in the same folder.
    d) Load up DVD Maestro. Import the m2v video file, import the AC3 file (create sync track once imported), import the Chapters file, import the Subtitles list, and Create your VIDEO_TS folder. e) Burn your VIDEO_TS folder with Nero If Nero complains about a non-compliant file, its just an extra project save file that Maestro added to your VIDEO_TS folder, you don’t need this file so just continue.
    Done!

I use all the time for movies that are between 4 and 5GB
to get it down to 4.3GB

I just add the final VIDEO_TS folder to Nero and Burn.

  4. Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for. However, I had one problem and I have one question.

    1) While trying to import the chapter list in DVDMaestro I had the following error message: "I-Frame insertion entry frame rate is not consistent with current tape frame rate! I-Frame import will be canceled." I did some research ad it appear it had to do with polldown (whatever that is). The question is HOW to solve the problem? (My DVD is NTSC)

    2) Question: IFO automatically selects the main file for the movie. However, my DVD has both, widescreen and full screen selection. By default DVD Decrypter select the widescreen version. I would like to have the full screen instead. How can I do this?

    Hopefully this is the end....IF

or you can use ifoedit and you dont have any problems with pulldown...

    here is the guide:

1.) open that main movie ifo with IfoEdit. Look the lower window and check what Vob ID's the movie part use:

    example:
    PGC_1 (program chain): [Title(TTN)].......etc............ (uses Vob ID's 1,2 )

    - Hit "Vob Extras"
    - select like in this picture:

    and hit "Ok".

    - then select audio-track and subtitles that you want to keep and hit "Strip It".
    - then select those VOB ID's that you have checked earlier and hit "Strip It".
    - hit ok for all incoming questions.
    - after that open the "new" ifo and hit "Get VTS Sectors"

that's it... then burn those files...

    Zzzzzzzzzz
