  2. The ATI All-in-wonder Video cards work well. Prices range from $75 for the plain Radeon to $400 for the Radeon 9700.

  4. The older ATI cards are decent, but geforce 4 is faster. Radeon 9700 beats the gforce in almost every test.

I have a gforce 2 that still runs most anything pretty fast, I gave up chasing the best gaming card long ago, in fact I just replaced my Voodoo3 a few months ago.

Any board will have a problem with some game or other, updated drivers usually fixes this.

Capture circuitry is pretty stable, gaming changes very fast, combining the two is not very cost-effective. The best capture card will still be good 5 years from now, the best gaming card is only average in less than 2 years.

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but it's worth pointing out. ATI and Nvidia both have cards that can do video capture, but people usually get better results from something like a cheap WinTV card. If you don't mind using an extra slot a good gaming card without capture and a bt8x8 TV tuner card may give you better results and still cost less. TV-out on your video card may still be important if you want to do editing and send the video back out to tape, TV tuner cards generally don't have video-out lines.

  6. Unfortuneately some of the newer games require TnL, or texture and lighting, or they don't work, Geforce 3 and 4 are currently the only ones that have it, so depending on the games you want.... I will be waiting for the dvd desktop writers to come down a bit more, and will go that way and get a gforce 3, 4 ,or by then 5 video card for gaming.
