hello.. I have a problem with my LiteOn DVD-Rom (16X). I just switched to win2k, and the drive is very slow.
Before this I used win98 SE and it was fasssstt, after I switched the DMA on. I used smartripper to rip DVDs up to 9X and I used Nero to make images, it was pretty fast too...
So I tried to look in win2K in the device manager to set the DMA on, but I can't find the DMA option in the drive's properties.
Then I look into the properties of ATA/ATAPI controllers (advanced setting) there I found the option "DMA if applicable". I choosed it and restart the computer and then I see that my Current Transfer Mode is ULTRA DMA. That means the DMA is on, am I right? But still is was slow, I can rip with smartripper only up to 3.5X.
What am I missing here? I didn't change any hardware. Please help.. thanks very much

Maybe its your ASPI layer (or possibly lack of it). Go to the adaptec web site and download the latest ASPI layer.

I got the same problem in this new liteon i just got.. however after 5 minutes or so the rip speed will hit about 6.1x, still sucks for a 16 (supposedly) drive.
OS is XP, aspi layer installed.
