CONVERTING DivX/AVI 2 MPG/VCD

PURPLE HAZE HELL
when i convert divx or avi files to mpg
i seem to get a purple haze over the picture
which appears and dissapears
i have tried many conversion programs and all produce the simmilar results and it greatly reduces the quality of the final movie
i have a slower 500Mhz pc but a friend has a new P4 2Ghz machine
and he too gets the same problem
has anyone else had a similar problem and been able to resolve it

I have never experienced this particular problem myself but have heard of similiar problems being associated with the Angelpotion or SMR codec. Check to see if you have this installed and if so remove it.

i have been shown to turn off the avi2filereader
if the enviroment settings of t-mpg and this seems to work ok
