  1. Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has played with xsvcd's and had any success using them in the apex player encoding them with Tmpgenc.. I can't seem to find the right settings, or max bit rate the player can handle.

    Thanks.

  2. Mine plays almost anything I have put in it. I use 720x480 2300 to 4000 bit rate depending on size of file to fit on CD. Interlaced, CBR, Motion search (Fast). Could be the player I hear you can get a bad one now and then ... they are cheep.

  4. Darr1960,

Get rid of the rca and buy a pioneer

Pioneer and apex both play anything.
Someone on this site once said jokingly their apex "plays everything even once played a slice of pizza"don't know if I quoted it 100% correctly.

Also you might want to check this out for yourself
APEX is now going to be making players for the big companies like Pioneer Sony Phillips just to name a few hey maybe they'll even be making rca(Thompson Electronics/GE).
    Here's the link www.apexdigitalinc.com

  5. I routinely make XSVCDs at 720x480@4500+224/48k CBR that work in my AD-1500. I wouldn't go so far as to imply that a Pioneer can play anything, as I would imply that the APEX can. It took a long time to dermine the max bitrate that my Pioneer DV-440 would play.

  6. Wow Your bitrate is that high .
Yeah my Pioneer (dv-434) in the guide says up to 2500.
    That must look awesome.
All I was trying to say is people around here say that Pioneer and apex are 2 of the best players to buy.

    THANKS VCD4ME
We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked?

  8. i had an apex 1500 and it sucked ass.. sure it played everything but the audio and video would get off sync so bad it wasn't even worth watching.. Usually it only happened when i encoded my own movies to vcd or svcd.. But i have a panasonic 5 disk changer now that plays all that and more and doesn't skip for nuthin.. best dvd player i've ever owned.. Another one i bought was GE and it sucked just as bad.. 3 disk changer.. started off good but eventually went to shit..
