I have encountered a strange problem with my sony dru500a dvd writer
and my matshita dvd drive on my pc.
If I insert a dvd into my matshita dvd drive (which can only read discs), I then double click on smart ripper, but it can't seem to initialise the drive,
the program seizes and does not respond.
Only when I open the dvd drive does the program become responsive again, but it says "No dvd inserted" obviously.
I never had this problem before installing the sony dru500a.
I am using dvd decryptor now, but I would like the option to use smartripper too.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

I just worked out what the problem was:
After reading some posts on this site, I decided to remove
Veritas DLA, an now everything is as it should be.
Anyone who buys a Sony DRU500A, don't install the DLA (recordmax is ok).
Regards,
Steven
