I'm trying to convert divx avi to DVD NTSC . I'm using TMPGenc 2.58 plus. Problem i have is whenever playback on standalone and PS2, it would skip at certain point (plays fine on PC). Its not a Media problem as i'm using Verbatim and Pioneer DVD-RW to author. I have basically narrow it down to the framerate but not sure what settings should be use. Original source is 23.97fps.
TMPGenc Settings (DVD Film NTSC template )
Frame rate : 23.97fps (internally 29.97fps)
Rate Control mode : 2pass VBR
Profile : MP@ML
Format : NTSC
Encode mode : 3:2 pulldown when playback
YUV : 4:2:0
DC components : 9
Motion search precision : Motion estimate search
Video Source type : Non Interlace
Field Order : A
This setting would give skipping video on playback, tried different field order and no difference. Also tried using Pulldown.exe , it reduce skipping but skipping is not as worse.
The only way for it to work is to lead ulead dvd workshop do the encoding for me but then i will have no control over the size and many options that are available with TMPGenc. Can anyone show me what settings i should use with TMPGenc for it to work with PS2 or standalone? Or can anyone send me a TMPGenc template with right settings thats works?

PS2 is not a good DVD player. Therein lies the problem. Buy a cheap supermarket DVD player with DVDr compatability.

I have an APEX 1201. It gave me the same problem PS2 is giving me. DVD plays fine on Toshiba and Sony Standalone.
