Well I have an Apex5131 DVD player that I use to watch burnt SVCD movies. Some movies will work perfectly fine and play through. Others, however, the picture becomes extremely pixelated and look kinda like a broken nintendo. This pixelation occurs throughout the rest of the disk. Also, I have another instance where the picture is fine during the first 20min of a disk, then the pixellation starts happening. THis only happens to SVCD's and not VCD or DVD.
I test various SVCD's with a Mustek DVD player a friend has. The movies that pixellate on my apex work fine on his player, and the movies that work fine on my apex do not play on his mustek. This I can't explain. (I tested about 5 movies). To further complicate things, I have one disk that will work on BOTH dvd players, dont know why, but its the only one that does.
I borrowed a friend's Apex 5131 and all the stuff that didn't work on mine works on his... No idea what is going on here. We both have version 2.
Pic below shows the pixellation in action. Got any ideas what's wrong? Thanks in advance.

Are there selectable subtitles on the SVCD? If so, does your player support this for SVCD? I had a similar problem once with a selectable subtitle stream. I demuxed with Mpeg Tools (TMPEG) and remuxed just the video and audio back together without the subtitle stream. The disc worked then.
Try a demux/remux anyway... you never know...Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
