    Hi! Welcome to VideoHelp!
    1) WinDVD is crap. If your limit is oneclickwonder applications, try Convertx2dvd. If you like to learn the trade, take a look undser CONVERT left, for guides on almost anything to DVD.
    2) Try a different (better?) kind of media. Different players like different media. Take a look at www.nomorecoasters.com for a rundown of what's good and not.

Generally, good media should work fine even if burned @ max speed. I however tend to never burn faster than 1/2 max speed. There's no hurry...

I'm not saying that you definately are looking at a media problem, but unfortunately, different players, like I said, like different media, not always the generally "best" media.
So - Try something besides WinAVI - a safe source of all kinds of problems.
If that doesn't help - try some other media.

Another "long shot" item to check...

What's the bit-rate of your final DVD? I had that happen recently when a disc would play fine on my machine but jitter like mad on a friend's. I had accidentally set it WAY too high. Once I dropped it the disc worked on both machines.
