  1. Hi everyone,

I'll try to explain the best as I can.

In movement, the picture is like a Jello effect. It seems that some pixels don't follow the rest of the movement. So it makes the clip very, I would say, Jello! It's like when you watch the clip, after a couple of seconds you feel dizzy.

I did resize and wanted to encode it in mpeg 2 using Mainconcept standalone encoder interlace. I then burn it on DVD

Can this the cause of the problem??

    Thanks.

    Pitou.

Yes, the resize is probably the problem.

If your source is interlaced the resizing can cause any number of weird effects. If you describe your process we might be able to help.

  4. craigtucker, sorry.

    ok here is the process.

    VHS cartoon, Asterix

Capture with Virtual VCR, using Huffyuv, 720x480, YUY2, audio pcm 48000hz, 29.97 frame/s.

Then pass through virtual dub, cropping to eliminate some junk in the borders, resize at this step to 720x480, then I use Smart smoother to reduce noise (checking the Interlace source box), then I save the AVI file again on the hard disk. (huffyuv compressed of course)

Then I start Mainconcept standalone encoder, mpeg 2, 720x480, interlace bottom field, bitrate avg=3800, max=9450, min=1200

I don't remember all the settings of the encoder, if you need them I'll take note of them

    Thanks.

    Pitou.
