  1. I have upgraded my full version of DWS 1.0 to 1.2.
I am now not able to have motion menus in my DVDs!
Source file is a PAL 16:9 DVD VBR mpeg2 with 48khz mp2 audio.
I create say 4 chapters, then a motion menu where each chapter has 20 seconds of motion. Add some audio.
Then try to create a video_ts folder.
No way to end the process, because program crashes during the motion menu encoding phase...
    It just crashes.
    I am using W2K SP2, P4, Matrox RT2000.
Other people are complaining about this in Ulead forum, but still no answer from Ulead techs - will they ever?
Has anybody experienced this and even found a workaround?
Waiting for your replies, thanks in advance

Did you ever get a resolution to this problem? I too am getting an application error that crashes program during the motion menu render phase on DWS version 1.2.

I have tried working around by pulling out the rendered menus from the ~menutemp folder created during the makedisc render and using these in another application. But, this is very tedious, and I can't get it to make all of my menus.

If you have any tips, please let me know!

  3. Has anybody found a solution to this problem. I contacted tech support and waited a week only for the to tell me to do a delete my windows temp directory and do a reinstall and run the update patch. (means they dont know) I have a dvd that about 50 people are waiting on, and its been progress has been completely halted because of this stupid problem. And yes I already did that prior to contacting tech support.

The error occurs in both Windows XP and Windows 2000. Anybody have any ideas?

  4. I read on Ulead's webboard that this might be caused by a duplicate DLL installed when using Vegas Video 3 (or another app that uses the MainConcept MPEG stream encoder). DWS uses version 1.1.1.18 and VV3 usings 1.1.1.19.

    The offending file is: mcmpgdec.dll.

The trick is to write over DWS's version with the version supplied by Sonic Foundry. Just search for the file.

    HTH.

Try renaming the .ini file and see if DWS creates a new one using the newer .dll

    Hi,
Do you have Service pack 1 installed for XP and SP3 installed for your 2000 installation?

The crash could be directx related i.e. its trying to encode or play through a mpeg directx filter which does not work well with these two operating systems or is encoding with the wrong encoder.

If you track down graphedit there is a tool (sysenum) in there which will show the installed directX filters.

See which mpeg 2 encoders and decoders for audio and video are in "direct show filters"

Temporarily copy them somewhere else, to see if it cures the problem.

When the Program crashes what error do you get in details?

There are also various updates and patches at ftp://ftp.ulead.com in the several folders. Isn't the 1.3 update available?
