drag the AVI file into VirtualDub
Go to Audio -> WAV Audio
this should pop up a box asking you for a file name
just type in whatever.wav (not actually whatever, not that it matters)
Then you should have the WAV file. then drop the avi into TMPGenc, and hit the browse button next to audio source, and select the WAV file you created, then encode

  6. Increasing DirectShow Multimedia File Reader filter's priority to 4-5 (TMPGEnc->Option->Environmental setting...->VFAPI plug-in) helps when audio is rendered through DirectShow filters. Make sure that Audio Source: box contains the path to your AVI or WAV.

  8. woohoo! it worked! thanks 0 kewl and johneboy

    wait..

I had to burn 2 different VCDs because the file was too big to fit into a regular CD-R. I did the same thing with the second part that I did with the first, but the audio isn't in sync with the video. Actually, I'm not even sure if the audio that's playing is for this part of the video. Um..please help!

best thing i can tell ya, is to demux the second MPG file.. the one thats outta sync.. And drop the audio file into a audio editor (such as goldwave) then push play on the movie, and the audio and determine how many seconds outta sync it is.. then either add or cut out the silence
