The two players that I know of (and have experience with) are both made by the same company and they are exactly the same player "under the hood" except the Philipps has a progressive scan feature. These are the Magnavox MDV450SL and the Philipps DVD-724AT. The Magnavox is hard to find, but it can be found at Walmart and Blockbuster online. I bought a DVD-724AT at Target for $140. These are much more physically sturdy than some of the cheap players like Apex. Both are listed in the DVD players section.

I suspect there are probably a few very inexpensive (perhaps even under $65) players out there that can play all formats, but since, I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, I would never waste my money on one of these.

Note: some people may mention one or another Apex players, for instance a AD-1500. Be very carefull as the latest production AD-1500 does not have any kind of VCD support. I suspect this may be true of other model Apex players.

I do own all three players mentioned here.
