    Can anyone help me with the following;

    I have a number of Mpeg files that I want to burn onto VCD or SVCD, but I don't know if the video streams are Mpeg1 or 11, and what the sampling rate, etc, of the audio is.

    How can I find this out ~ do I need a utility, or is there another way.

    I told you it was a newbie question!

  2. Hi! Try to download "virtualdub" first. after that, open up virtualdub then click on "file". after that, click on file infomation and it should tell you info about the MPEG.

    Except for the fact that virualdub will give you an error if you try to open mpeg-1. I would suggest bitrate viewer and/or mpegprops

  5. VDub opens MPEG1 not 2 although it can with avisynth. So if you get a Virtual Dub cannot open this MPEG (or words to that effect) you can be fairly sure its MPEG2 , if it opens its MPEG1

    You are right, sorry that was a typo, meant to say it gives an error opening mpeg-2. Oops :P
