  1. I am trying to change an .avi XVID codec
    since it is such a problem to encode with
    TMPGE. I use VirtualDub and select
    Video---> Full Processing Mode
    Video Compression---->DIVx Low Motion
    The above was in KingJohn’s guide.
    The problem is with the audio. The file information is:
    Video Stream 640x272 XVID MPEG-4 Codec
    Audio Stream 48000 MHZ sampling rate
    Channels 2(stereo)
    Sample Precision 0–bit
    The problem is that I get the following message when
    attempting to change Audio Compression (using Full Processing Mode):
    The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input
    format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input
    match those of the requested format.
    Any suggestions?

    When in doubt: Dump problem format to Uncompressed WAV.

    With V-Dub, go "Save Wav". Open that "Wav" in Winamp (older versions) and it should handle it (yours sounds like .mp3). Use the "Disk Writer" plugin...

    Particularly on DivX files, Virtualdub and other programs won't treat .mp3 audio as .mp3, it will treat it as "MPEG Layer-3 audio" with wav formatting to it. It's nuts, but you have to sometimes convert this to Uncompressed "Wav" because a lot of programs won't know what this is for some reason.

    I've found lots of compressors only work right when you do plain WAV --> Compressed, rather than trying Compressed --> Compressed Differently.

    I hope I understood the problem right...
