  1. Hello,

After reading all the good comments about the ADVC100, I decided to bury my DVCII and start again capturing my VHS with ADVC100. I am running Win98SE on a P4 1.8, Duravision 1394 card, DVDworkshop...I have been capturing from my DV cam (i-link) without any problem.

Plugged in the ADVC and ready to start....a screen of full square boxes appears on my DVDws' preview window.....like my film clip has passed thru some "mosaic" encoder.

I bought it back to the shop and they tried it with their PC running XP.....and as always...no problem at all.

So what is the problem with my set up.....I think this ADVC don't need any drivers, but when I plug in DVDws recognise is as device "unknow - MSDV#1" .

Do I need to upgrade my window?

I have then try it with Ulead video editior and PowerDirector, same mosaic screen appears.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    Teddy.

I have had this before, something to do with type 1 & 2 DV avi files. I use Sonic Foundry Vegas Video 3c and have no problems (reads all DV files). Ulead has some bug with this, but my files were captured in Vegas or the latest IuVcr (DV codec). Try the demo of Vegas Video or Video Factory or IuVCR.

I had no trouble using my ADVC-100 with Ulead VideoStudio 5 though I've now switched to Scenalyzer Live. I agree, try some other programs. Scenalyzer is a real quick one to download. www.scenalyzer.com If you still have trouble see if you can figure out what chip is used on your firewire card.
