  1. I have an interesting problem. When I play a VCD/SVCD/DVD the video is fine put the audio is all messed up. I get the background music fine but the dialog is so low in volume and is very scratchy sounding. This used to work fine. I thing that I may have installed something that overwrote an XP file but have no idea which one or how to correct it. I tried reinstalling WinDVD and PowerDVD. When I try to play in Microsoft Media Player 9beta it says invalid codec cannot download, but I still get the video. Things play in WinDVD and PowerDVD but, like I said, the audio is messed up. I even tried reinstalling the Divx codecs. I would try reinstalling the mp2 codecs but cant seem to locate them anywhere. I am open to suggestions EXCEPT reformatting my HD

    Thanks,

    Scott

try a new media player, I have to switch between windows media player to something like realplayer to get some files to work or do a web search after finding out what type of file it is ...and manualy find the codec.

  3. I have tried the dvd / video software that came with my graphics card as well as Microsoft Media Player, WinDVD, and PowerDVD. They all produce the same results. I have since replaced my audio card and still have the same problem. Thanks for the reply though. Anyone else?
