  2. THAT'S HARD TO ANSWER...
TRY TESTING ON DVD-RW MEDIA BEFORE TO BURN A DVD-R.
BUT I THINK SOME (OR MOST OF) STANDALONE DVD PLAYERS CAN'T READ DVD-RW MEDIA AS WELL AS DVD-R. SO YOU CAN TEST IT ONLY IN YOUR PC OR IN A -RW COMPATIBLE STANDALONE PLAYER.
A03 HAS A COPY PREVENTION SYSTEM FOR COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL, AND MAYBE YOU NEED TO RE-AUTHOR YOUR RIPPED DVD (I'M NOT SURE, SO YOU HAVE TO TEST IT).

AND PEOPLE THAT ARE THINKING ABOUT BUYING A DVD RECORDER MAYBE MUST WAIT A BIT FOR DVD+R AND DVD+RW RELEASE. THEY ARE 100% COMPATIBLE WITH PC AND STANDALONE DVD DRIVES THAT CAN READ DVD-9 AND DVD-18 FORMATS (DUAL LAYER TYPE), DVD-RW IS NOT 100% COMPATIBLE WITH SOME STANDALONES.
FOR MORE INFORMATION JUST VISIT DVD+RW ALLIANCE http://www.dvdrw.com/ AND http://www.dvdrw.com/hotnews.html

  3. I did a straight copy DVD to DVD-r and DVD-rw
and the results were identical to original (NO CSS).
I also used smart ripper (removing CSS) when the disc was incrypted and the results were identical to original.
Both types played on my apex 660 and the dvd-r on the 600
Also the dvd-r plays on several of my friends different decks
