    Hi,
I'm able to create VCDs just fine with TMPGEnc .. but I never tried adding subtitles. How do I rip just the subtitles from the movie (DVD) and then add it using TMPGEnc?

    Thanks

Use vobsub and avisynth or virtualdub to frameserve to tmpgenc. See the guide: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/87065.php

In the article titled "How to add permanent subtitles with VobSub" (link="http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/87065.php").
The composer says, "I do not want to explain how to rip subtitles off a DVD... So I assume you created the subtitles already...”

He speaks about software named "subrip". Would this be good software to rip the subtitles for a VCD too?

Well, you could use subrip to extract the subs, but it's probably a whole lot easier to use vobsub to do it instead. Open "vobsub configure" (or open the configuration dialog for the VirtualDub plugin) and click "open". By default it only shows you the idx files because those are what it creates, but you can use the file type dropdown to change that and open an ifo file instead. It will then extract and save the subtitles in its own format.

I have another problem now ..
I'm following your guide "How to frameserve (dvd2avi / VirtualDub / Avisynth / VFAPI)" from:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=87270

I want to use my Panasonic MPEG1 Encoder but after I load the .vdr file and choose "Start Enconding..." button, the encoder only works for about 5seconds and outputs a file that is 0k in size.

    Why is this happening?

Try TMPGEnc... If that works and the Panasonic one doesn't, then we know what the problem is.

I've used DVDx as frameserver for TMPGEnc, and it successfully got the subtitles from the 2 DVD's I've tried. The subtitles are a bit grainy, but readable, in the final result.
