Hi video gurus i have 2 questions:
1- Is the latest version of cce 2.64 support the change of the vbv buffer.
2- If the value of the vbv buffer is written in the header of a mpg1 or mpeg 2, by changing it with a hexeditor will make it work. And if yes is there any such utility? and where i can find the specification for the mpegs headers? Maybe ill try to make a tool to change it.
I dont want to reeconde my video, i just want to change the vbv buffer size in the header.
TIA
All of this because my player (panasonic rv31) is very picky about the vbv buffer size. It needs to be 40.

Answer to 1:
No, no version supports that (also new 2.66sp)
Answers to 2:
The value isnīt only be written to the header
An utility to change vbv buffer size is old tmpeg 0.12beta (no a, no b version) - itīs in the mpeg tools
The specification is something with IEC 1318-2 or similar (have it and can do a specific lookup)
If you want to change vbv afterwards you have tu use tmpeg 0.12, then demux the mpg (because tmpeg writes two headers; thatīs why it was abandoned in future versions) and remux it with bbMPEG.
Thatīs it.
Detailed informations about vbv can be found here - but german only sorry:

Edit: Sorry the direct link isnīt working, forwards only to the major site ...

Did you try changing VBV buffer size in a mpeg file. I also have a XVCD mpg file with high bit rate but small VBV buffer size(40). I also would like to try changing the buffer size. Can you also point me to where I can get that software.
thanks -
As mb1 said, the only known tool to change the the header information is TMPGEnc beta12 (I am not sure about beta11, earlier and later versions do not have that option). File > MPEG tools > VBV buffer optimization.
It is not a perfect way, but works with XVCD. -

Is there a better way to do it other than reencoding the file with correct VBV buffer size. Also where do I get that version of TMPGEnc beta 12. Official site for TMPGEnc don't have it. -
Once again. You can change the buffer size with TMPG's MPEG tool "VBV opt." without reencoding.

Truman thanks for the information.
Can you please explain this also. Under VBV Optimization tab in TMPGEnc beta 12, the type of the file should be MPEG-1 VIDEO CD/MPEG-1 VIDEO CD NoN Standard or MPEG-1 VBR. I encoded the mpeg earlier in 2 pass VBR mode. (XVCD max bitrate was 2100K, avg bitrate was 1800K and VBV buffer size was 40)
Will using Mpeg-1 Video Cd type will keep the VBV size to 40.
Will using Mpeg-1 Video CD non standard cause any problems playing in stand alone dvd players or that just mean out of standard like XVCD.
Should Mpeg-1 VBR type be used as file was encoded in VBR mode.
Also Do I have to demux and remux the file using bbMPEG as mb1 mentioned tmpgenc beta 12 will create two headers.
thanks -
Sorry 4 this off topic question:
But where can I download the old version of tmpgenc ??
I tried google but no success!!!
Thanxxx!!!!
