  1. After a long day of converting your favorate VCD/XVCD/SVCD which company would you say makes the most CD Friendly DVD player, without loosing features or quality?

I mean a company that really makes DVD players so compatable friendly with standard and non standard disks, that you could practicly burn the disk with a ciggaret lighter and get it to play.

Anyone can recommend something to me?

    offbrand dvd players.

    bush, apex things like that.

they seem to offer the most duarable lasers and most playback options.

for some reason big name dvd players aren't usually that good.

    rca really blows i hear.

  4. Pioneer is the way to go. There not a cheap off brand product that will break down in 6 months (Apex)and they will play anything

  5. god dammit , i jus bought a pioneer 343 i now i really wanna hear the apex bashing stop, my apex has gone thru rough carrying all kinds of shit, and u know what, svcd looks the same on the apex as the pioneer, the pioneer plays vcd better, not much though, contrary to what i heard, also, IT LASTS, btw, cousin has a daewoo dvg3000 i think, its GREAT looks like the pioneer (picture wise) but is the price of the apex.

  6. If you go and read user reviews on the Apex or Daewoo on the web you'll realize that if yours lasted very long you were one of the lucky ones. Most people that have them say there junk and didn't last. Why do you think there cheaper than other players, because they want to be nice and not charge you more? Or because they cut corners and use cheap components? Do you drive a Hugo too?

That's simply not true. I've banged hundreds of cdr's through both my Apex 660 and 703 without even a hint of a problem. We are not talking rocket science here. The components are standard quality and hold up as well as any. As a matter of fact the first Pioneer 343 I tested was DOA. The second one performed well but a portion of the price of the unit was to pay for Pioneer advertising and marketing budgets. I don't mind that but to claim there was a significant increase in quality would not be a true statement.

I tasted alot of cheap beers that were great and priced right because they decided not to advertise on Super Bowl Sunday.

It would be foolish to try to claim that the Apex players are the highest quality going. Of course that is not true. But they are a heck of alot better than some people claim. What else are you going to recommend for $99? An Orbitron? Maybe a Memorex? Come on Apex is the best thing going. I picked ip and entire DVD player macrovision free for the price of a Sima Copymaster Pro.

I gues I'm not the type who buys a Dell when I can build it for alot less.

If you checkout the forum especially thinking of the most frequently used burning program (i.e. Nero) you will find that Nero and Pioneer are not that compatible (Menus!!).

  12. I have a Philips 711 and it has been good for the things I want. It plays VCD/XVCD/SVCD/XSVCD. Picture quality is great and it has great sound when coming through my Onkyo Reciever
