In preparing to burn my first DVD backup to DVD+R under Nero Express, I ripped it under both SmartRipper and DVD Decrypter. SmartRipper rips to completion. When I try to burn the image under Nero Express, it returns an error message that the following files are missing:
Video_TS.IFO
Video_TS.bup
VTS_07_0.bup
and "DVD-Video Files Compliance Test Failed".
When I try to rip under DVD Decrypter v.3.1.3.0, the rip never processes and the application returns an error of ""Windows Millenium Fat32 does not support files > 4 GB".
Help! I was completely unaware (if true) that my DVD re-writer is limited under Windows Me. HP certainly didn't mention that in any of their literature.
That being said, what is my easiest workaround this problem to back up my DVD's as I am not very technical.
Thank you.
John

win98ME is limited to a maximum file size of 4GB. If your getting the 4GB warning in DVD Decrypter you have it set to rip as one large file or your making an ISO image file. Neither Smartripper or DVD Decrypter creates burnable ifo file. If you rip in movie mode you need to re-create the ifo file with IFOEDIT. If you use Smartripper in it's backup mode it will rip burnable files to a VIDEO_TS folder. But burn is limited to 4.37GB capacity og DVD_R.

In the absence of upgrading Windows ME to Windows 2000 or XP, what is the easiest method for putting 4 GB on a $3 DVD+R and the remainder on cheap $.15 CD-R? Am I asking for playing/performance problems splitting the backup this way? I'm a newbie, so any pros and cons/lessons learned you could share with me would be useful.
Thank you. -
